French cows enjoy their new spacious and comfortable Dreamstalls at Ferme Chantaduc

Marie, Romain and Loïc welcome us to their dairy farm in Aurieres at an altitude of 1000 metres. The milk from their 75 cows is used to make the famous and delicious ‘Saint Nectaire’ cheese. They recently modernised the existing stable and significantly increased the comfort of the cows. With the new Dreamstalls, the cows have a larger lying area, allowing them to lie down freely.
The existing freestall barn of the Chantaduc family has been renovated with the aim of increasing animal welfare and offering their employees more work convenience and pleasure. Cow comfort is a top priority for the farmers, which is why they have chosen to equip their cublicles with new Dreamstall stall dividers. The farmers are very happy with this choice, and so are their cows. They are thoroughly enjoying their new spacious stalls.
The existing cubicles with rubber mats were quite outdated, in terms of height, depth and comfort. This was one of the reasons for the cows' short lifespan. In order to create the new spacious stalls, the length of the row on both sides of the barn was extended by 1 metre and lengthwise towards the heifer barn.

The 1+1-row U-barn is equipped with new Dreamstall dividers in combination with deep litter. "The freedom that the cow has in the Dreamstall when standing and lying down in the cubicle really appealed to us", the farmer states. "The cows lie down quickly and like to lie down. We see that they stand and lie down nicely in the stall, so that the manure ends up neatly in the manure alley."
In the middle of the barn, six stalls are equipped with Wisconsin stall dividers in combination with Dutch Mountain cow mattresses. Due to the limited space, Dreamstalls could not be placed here, in this way the cows also have a comfortable place to lie down here.
The cows are thoroughly enjoying their new spacious stalls. Two milking robots will soon be installed in the barn. This has significantly modernised the existing barn.
